FAQ’s & Further information

What is VEINWAVE®’?

VEINWAVE®technology delivered the results we wanted and has quickly become the acclaimed thread and spider vein treatment by healthcare professionals worldwide.

VEINWAVE®uses a process known as Thermocoagulation which seals the thread vein walls, causing them to instantly and permanently disappear and is commonly used in conjunction with Sclerotherapy.

The simple difference between VEINWAVE® and our competitors is that a very low current of 4MHz is used during treatment. The low current and the fact that we do not treat the blood, means VEINWAVE® is safe & immediate.

How VEINWAVE®works

The practitioner introduces a fine needle over the vein and in most cases it Disappears instantaneously.  There is no bandaging required.

Unlike IPL and Lasers, ‘VEINWAVE®’ cannot cause loss of pigmentation. It treats red spots, a variety of vascular blemishes and troublesome red veins. ‘VEINWAVE®’ can be used equally well on men.

The sterile needle, for single use, is covered with an insulating sheath which protects the skin, enabling a targeted action, delivering the treatment with precision.

VEINWAVE®’ does not use laser, IPL or injections, and simply uses a process called Thermocoagulation. Thermocoagulation works by gently joining the two walls of the vein together. The three steps are below:

What is the treatment process and how many sessions will I need?

Depending on the size and number of thread veins, this will differ. We often find that some clients see results after one treatment, whereas others will need a course of three to see optimum results. Treatments are carried out at 4-week internals, so plan for the treatment to take around three months.

Is Thermocoagulation safe?

In short, yes Thermocoagulation is safe. Although all medical and aesthetic procedures do come with risks, those associated with Thermocoagulation are small and extremely uncommon.

Why do visible veins occur?

Thread veins or spider veins are very common. Most people will have some, although they may not be very obvious. When there are a lot of thread veins and/or they appear on the face, it is more noticeable.

There could be a number of reasons behind getting thread veins. These may include:

    •    Inherited – if your parents/grandparents had thread veins, you are more likely to suffer

    •    Hormonal factors – they can appear in pregnancy. Usually they will disappear again, but women with multiple pregnancies are more prone than those who have never had children

    •    Menopause or other hormonal changes

    •    Varicose veins

    •    Exposure to sunlight – excessive sunbathing or an outdoor lifestyle can exacerbate thread veins. People who work outside may have ruddier complexions with broken veins. Sunblock with a minimum SPF30 year round will help

    •    Trauma – thread veins can be triggered by injuries, cuts, wounds, scars or burns

    •    Radiotherapy or radiation exposure

What are the after affects of the treatment?

Generally Thermavein is very well tolerated and most patients hardly feel a thing or a tiny ‘hair pluck’ sensation during treatment. Some patients will have a little redness over the area treated but this will usually last a few days only and can be covered with makeup if required.

With Thermavein, Micro-scarring may occur, but is uncommon. Colour changes, such as hyperpigmentation (brown/red discolouration) or hypopigmentation (skin/vein lightening) may occur in the treated area.
